Brock & Stout Attorneys at Law

About Our Firm

Built on Two Simple Principles

When Mike Brock and Gary Stout founded Brock & Stout in 1996, they built the firm around two ideas: every case matters, and every client deserves personal attention.

Those principles were easier to say than to scale. As Brock & Stout grew from one office to 13 locations and from two attorneys to a firm of 20 attorneys and more than 100 staff, the challenge was to grow without losing the personal service that defined the firm in the beginning.

That remains the standard we try to hold ourselves to today.

“At Brock & Stout, we built our law firm on a foundation of service, and doing our very best for our clients.”

Mike Brock, Founding Partner

Who We Are

Brock & Stout Attorneys at Law was founded in 1996 by attorneys Mike Brock and Gary Stout. What began as a small Alabama law firm has grown into a team of 20 attorneys and more than 100 staff serving clients through 13 offices in Alabama and Georgia.

Our primary practice areas are Bankruptcy, Social Security Disability and Personal Injury. Those areas are very different from one another, but the people who contact us often have something in common: they are dealing with a problem that is affecting their financial security, health, family or future.

Our job is to understand that problem, explain the legal options clearly and do the work required to help the client move forward.

Growth has given Brock & Stout more attorneys, more staff, more offices and more resources. But growth only matters if those resources result in better service for the people who trust us with their cases.

That's why the principles Mike and Gary established in 1996 still matter today: every case is important, and every client deserves personal attention.

From One Office to 13

Brock & Stout opened its first office in Enterprise, Alabama, in 1996. Dothan became one of the firm's earliest locations, and over the years Brock & Stout continued expanding into communities throughout Alabama and Georgia.

Today, the firm has 11 Alabama offices in Dothan, Enterprise, Montgomery, Opelika, Birmingham, Hoover, Tuscaloosa, Huntsville, Mobile, Foley, and Andalusia, along with offices in Atlanta and Columbus, Georgia.

The firm has grown because we wanted clients to have convenient access to Brock & Stout without losing the resources of a larger legal team.

Alabama offices handle Bankruptcy, Social Security Disability and Personal Injury. Columbus, Georgia does as well. The Atlanta office handles Social Security Disability and Personal Injury. Our Social Security Disability practice represents claimants nationwide.

Focused on Three Core Practice Areas

Rather than trying to be every kind of law firm for every kind of problem, Brock & Stout has concentrated its practice around three areas where our attorneys and staff have built significant experience.

Bankruptcy

We help individuals and families understand Chapter 7 and Chapter 13 when debt, garnishment, foreclosure, repossession or other financial pressures become difficult to manage.

Learn About Bankruptcy about Bankruptcy

Social Security Disability

Our disability team helps clients through applications, denials, appeals and hearings and represents Social Security Disability claimants nationwide.

Personal Injury

Our Personal Injury team investigates serious injury claims, deals with insurance companies and fights to protect clients when another party may be legally responsible for their injuries.

The Resources of a Larger Firm. The Service of a Family Firm.

Brock & Stout is much larger today than it was in 1996. That gives our clients access to attorneys, case teams, technology and support staff that a smaller practice may not have.

But clients should never feel like a case number.

We want people to know who is working on their case, understand what is happening and have a place to turn when they have a question. Our size should make it easier to serve clients—not harder to reach us.

That balance is what "Let Our Family Help Your Family" means to us.

Founded by Mike Brock and Gary Stout

Mike Brock and Gary Stout founded Brock & Stout in 1996 and continue to shape the principles that guide the firm. Their original goal was not simply to build a larger law practice. It was to build a firm where clients were treated with respect and where attorneys took their responsibility to each case seriously.

Leadership and Attorneys

Brock & Stout's attorneys bring experience across the firm's three core practice areas, while the firm's leadership continues to invest in the people, systems and technology needed to serve clients effectively.

What Our Clients Say

More than 8,000 five-star reviews across our firm reflect the experiences of people who have trusted Brock & Stout with important legal problems.

I cannot say enough good things about this office! From start to finish, everyone was absolutely amazing. The ladies in the office were so kind, welcoming, and professional. They made me feel comfortable from the very beginning and made what could have been a very stressful and overwhelming process feel so easy. The attorney was wonderful as well. He took the time to walk me through everything, explain the process, and make sure I felt comfortable every step of the way. I truly appreciate the kindness, patience, and professionalism that everyone showed me. Going through bankruptcy is not always easy, but having a team like this made all the difference. I am so grateful I chose this office, and I would absolutely recommend them to anyone who needs help. If I could give more than five stars, I would! Thank you all for making this experience so much easier than I ever expected!

What Hasn't Changed

Brock & Stout is a much larger firm than it was when Mike Brock and Gary Stout opened the doors in 1996. We have more offices, more attorneys, more staff and more resources. What we do not want to change is the reason the firm was built in the first place: to help people through serious legal problems and treat every client as though their case matters—because it does. If you're facing debt, unable to work because of a disability, or dealing with a serious injury, we'd welcome the opportunity to talk with you. Let Our Family Help Your Family.
